Confessions of teh Purpleist

I took my first step today. I joined a GLBTS organization.

The ‘S’ is for straight. It’s a Gay/Straight Alliance group.

The cool part is that I wasn’t asked about my sexuality, which made it really easy to just say hi, talk about whatever, and ultimately pledge my membership. Gay, bi, or otherwise, I fully support GLBT rights, and would like to take action - with others - to try and change public policy as it relates to those issues.

Back to my conflict, though: I feel like I’m not comfortable in my own skin! Standing there with those people still felt odd. I’m not concerned with my feelings toward them; I was afraid of how they would judge ME! It’s hard to explain how this feels, but I’m sure that once this blog gets going I’ll be able to open up more and more.

But for now, just be proud. One of these days I’ll be able to make sense of all of this.

I’m just glad I could get a good start.
